Lighting may be strategically positioned to give the
sense of a bigger room. If your room seems more like a closet than a family
room, here are a few tricks to make it appear larger without the effort and
expense of a significant renovation with Lavior. COB Light (Tiltable).
Recessed Lighting- In a small area where floor space is
limited, floor lights will not suffice. Large light fixtures suspended from the
ceiling may break up a room and make it appear smaller, which is beneficial in
open living rooms but detrimental in an already cramped space. Low-profile recessed
lights overcome this issue by providing a clear line of sight that may be
bright enough for chores but low enough for a family movie night.
Track lights occupy far less visible area than
traditional fixtures while yet making a creative presence in the house. Each
light on the track may be adjusted to bounce off of walls and ceilings or to
illuminate a dark location. When track lighting is combined with the low
profile of recessed lighting, every corner of a room is well lighted without
sacrificing space or design.
Natural Light Sources – Make the most of natural light by
keeping windows as open as possible. Heavy drapes and dark curtains might
detract from this vital source of light. Skylights are an excellent option for
a poorly lighted environment, but they are significantly more expensive when
structural work is included. Solar light tubes, also known as sun tunnels, are
a less expensive option. The metal tubes collect light from the roof and
reflect it into the house. Consider the difference they make in this foyer:
Colors and Accessories – Once you've established your
ideal lighting approach, complement it with vibrant colors and creatively
placed accessories. A huge, carefully placed mirror expands and lengthens the
area while reflecting light back into it. When selecting paint colors, choose
light blues, greens, light greys, and neutrals to produce a bright and airy
vibe.
Having a strategic lighting plan is an important
component of home design, whether your layout is snug or open.
